Level Design
- Chromera Sanctuary -

Chromera Sanctuary is a map created for the final project of my year at VFS called "Chromeras" - a multiplayer battle party game; in which myself and 4 other excellent students created over the span of 6 months in the Unity engine. Chromera Sanctuary is a map used in 3 out of the 4 game modes featured in Chromeras.

While designing this map I wanted to cater to the "chase" and the feeling of pursuit at all times while you play on the map, to do this I gave players many avenues of escape, some obstacles to avoid or make use of, different elevations the player can reach, and powerups placed in such a way that encouraged players to not stick to playing in any particular spot like "camping" with the token. I also made use of a heatmap to determine the best locations for obstacle and powerup placements; however not only for placements of obstacles and powerups but also just to determine where players were going most often to get rid of potential overpowered locations - or on the opposite hand where players were dyeing most often so that we could address those locations accordingly.

Additionally to add a slight difference to each game mode playing on the same map, we did a color swap with the textures in code so that players wouldn't get confused with the goals of any particular game mode while playing on what is essentially the same map. Green represents Chromball, Yellow represents Tag, and finally blue represents Rainbow Quest.
